I tried out 5 or 6 different variations over time—some cheap, some mid-range—always searching for the perfect balance of durability and practicality. But none of them really nailed it for me. That was until I decided to finally give Shimoda a try.

I kept hearing amazing things about Shimoda backpacks – Especially their new Explore V2. So I reached out to them to give the bags a try and in depth review.

At first, I wasn’t sure about these camera bags. They seemed heavy and a little bulky compared to my ultralight hiking bags. But as I used them more and more, I started to appreciate the thoughtful design and durability that Shimoda has built into these camera bags. The quality materials, modular design, and comfort features make it clear that these backpacks are built to last.

Would I recommend Shimoda camera bags? Definitely! For photographers who need a camera bag that is durable and rugged and going to last forever, you can’t go wrong, they’re awesome. That said, there are a couple types of people who this bag might not be right for: If you’re primarily a wedding photographer, this bag is a little bulky and doesn’t hold quite as much gear as other options. Or if you’re someone who prefers traveling light and wants a lightweight camera bag that is as minimalist as possible, these may not be the best choice for you. But if you’re an adventure photographer who needs a versatile, durable, and stylish camera bag that can handle a variety of environments, then Shimoda’s camera backpacks are a solid investment.
